Shelf Genie has been to my house! I’m not sure if the photos display the transformation from chaos to calm – but I now love my kitchen cabinets. Four cabinets done. Top row is before (ugh), then all cleaned out, after the magic started and finally being lived into…
Have you thought about the wonder of it all…

I ordered something while sitting in my house in Alexandria, VA. I ordered it on the computer at 4:18PM on Wednesday, with the direct involvement of only one human being – me.
In probably less than 48 hours (it has not yet arrived), it will be delivered to my front door. 1978 miles in less than 48 hours.
Even though this is commonplace (and expected), I still find it pretty amazing. Oh these times in which we live…
Edited: Package arrived at 1:48PM. 45 hours and 30 minutes after I placed the order.
else. That’s where I’d like to be because of the chore I need to do tonight.
I had the Glide-out shelves installed in the kitchen today – they are AWESOME! I’ve put stuff back in one cabinet. There is actually a little less space (because of the space the drawers take up) but the same amount of stuff went back in the cabinet with room to spare. I don’t get “new math.”
Now I’ll prepare din and work on other cabinets while it heats. I’ve taken pictures every step of the way so I shall share them once the work is complete.
Here’s a photo of someplace else I’d rather be…
Trevi Fountain, Rome.
visiting family members staying in my house with me. No time to blog, sneeze or anything else. Be back Tuesday or Wednesday.
It was a stormy drive to BWI this afternoon but I got there and retrieved the Aunt, Uncle, Cousin and Husband. Travel brings stress. Close contact with folks with whom we don’t normally have close contact causes stress. Sleeping in my home office may cause me some stress… I’m hoping the number of people in the house does not cause the resident four-leggeds stress – though it has already cause them a little. Well, the little one has been a little stressed. I think she’ll be okay – but the 18 month old arrives tomorrow and with that comes a whole bunch of different stress.
We shall take this one moment at a time. That’s all I can do…
Tonight’s dinner, Senior Chicken! A big hit. Tomorrow’s breakfast – bacon and eggs, coffee and juice… basic but should be yummy.
The day started early, at the 7AM Ash Wednesday service. 38 folks. a pretty good crowd for that hour. There were four more services during the day. 7AM was the one that fit best in my day.
C and I walked 3.75 miles. We’ve been walking every other day or so and I’ve walked over 19 miles since March 1. It feels good. I miss it when I don’t walk. I didn’t think I’d get hooked so fast, but that it okay by me. On Saturday morning, E and A and I walked just under 4 miles. There will be no walking outside tomorrow as the forecast calls for a big storm.
Tomorrow the influx of family begins. Aunt, Uncle, Cousin and Cousin’s Husband arrive by plane from the north. On Friday, Cousin’s Daughter, Husband and Toddler arrive by car from the south. They will all be staying at my house – with me too. I can actually sleep 7 people on beds and I’m not sure where the toddler will sleep but his parents are bringing a bed. There will be much coming and going and cooking and such.
Sunday we are adding Niece and her boyfriend will join us for dinner. Just more crazy to the crazy! It’ll be great but this house really isn’t that big. I think I’ll need a walk or two (or more).
Non-sequitur: Survivor was awesome tonight! Thank goodness Russell is gone! Finally, a group of people who banded together to send him packing. He’s not a nice person and that finally caught up with him in this very social game.
So, Lent. Time for prayer, reflection, growth. What will it mean this year? What will I learn? What will I discover about me? About my relationship with God? My place in the world? Maybe I’ll learn something, maybe I’ll not learn anything but I am open to whatever happens.
Tonight I enjoyed pancakes and sausages at the annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper. I say that I enjoyed them, because I didn’t have to make them. I wasn’t involved in making the pancakes. For the last very many years i’ve been in the kitchen working on getting the pancakes out to the hungry folks. It was great to see a new batch of folks working with the new batch of kids.
Ash Wednesday tomorrow. Lent. Sacrifice. Discipline. Opportunity. Learning. Yearning. Hope.
